Glass Reinforced Epoxy with Metal Core Sheets

Each sheet is built by bonding a 3.0 mm SS316L plate between two 1.6 mm layers of G10 glass-reinforced epoxy using a precision hot-press lamination process. The epoxy-impregnated fiberglass layers are cured under heat and pressure, resulting in a void-free structure that combines the metal core’s tensile rigidity with the laminate’s electrical insulation.

The G10 faces exhibit excellent moisture resistance (≤ 0.1 % over 24 h immersion) and maintain at least 80 % of flexural strength when immersed in transformer oil at 90 ± 2 °C. Meanwhile, the SS316L core yields uniform compressive support, allowing the composite to withstand repeated loading and maintain flatness under thermal cycling from –45 °C up to 150 °C. The sandwich construction ensures continuous dielectric stability up to 35 kV breakdown voltage, while the G10 layers provide arc-resistance and low dielectric loss at 50 Hz (≤ 0.035).

Usable sizes range from 1020 × 1220 mm to 1220 × 2440 mm, with overall thickness customizable from 6.2 mm (two 1.6 mm laminates plus 3.0 mm core) up to thicker gauges per engineering requirements. These composite sheets are precision-machinable, permitting tight-tolerance cutting and drilling without delamination.
